ASOS app customers receive alarming message from alleged hackers

Thousands of ASOS app users have received a menacing notification from purported hackers claiming to have “fully compromised” the major online fashion retailer.

The message sent just before 8pm AEDT on Tuesday said: “Dear ASOS DPO and IT, we have fully compromised the Snowflake instance. Engage with us, or we will leak it.”

It contained a link at the end of the notification.

The British online fashion retailer has not yet publicly commented on the alleged hack.

Dozens of people from Australia and the United Kingdom have taken to social media to share receiving the menacing message.

DPO may be a reference to the company’s data protection officer while Snowflake is an online data storage platforms whose tools are used for collecting, analysing and storing data.

ASOS has around 17 million customers in 150 countries.
